February Social Media Post Ideas for Small Businesses
February may be the shortest month of the year but it has wealth of opportunities for great social media content. Which is great as it follows the longest month of the year for everyone, not just businesses. It is packed with plenty of excuses to run a giveaway, create a promotion or send an email to your customers. You’ve got plenty of chances to get your brand out there so here are a few ideas to get you started.
Every day of the month has a weird and/or wonderful holiday to celebrate. Here are some of our favourites:
- February 1: National Wear Red Day (#GoRed)
- February 9: National Pizza Day
- February 15: Singles Awareness Day
- February 17: National Random Acts of Kindness Day
As you can see, there are various opportunities to promote your business in a fun and relevant way (not forgetting Valentine’s day of course!). You could
- Post a photo of you or your product adorning something red
- Share your favourite/worst pizza or topping or create a fun poll
- Run a giveaway especially for the singletons #GalentinesDay
- Send a card or gift to a customer (choose from a list of comments on your post) or a business (current or potential customer) on the 17th

We’re talking international events like the OSCARs or more national ones like the London Fashion Week and BAFTAs. If they are directly related to your business then even more of a reason to ride the wave and use relevant hashtags. However, you can still use the OSCARS to promote a non-film related brand. You just need to get inventive with the caption. Tongue-in-cheek would probably work well here.
Not everyone is comfortable showing their face on social media but you can still draw on your personal life for post ideas. Got school age kids? Then you will be clued up with the February half term dates. Use that to your advantage. Booked a summer holiday? Chances are many have done the same. Remind your audience how your business could help them enjoy their holiday or save up for one.
As you can see, February is not just about love, hearts and chocolate (though if your business is in this area you are already sorted).
